# Average Retention Period

**What is it:** The average number of months a subscriber continues their subscription.

**Why it matters:** This metric tells you how long users typically stay subscribed to your plugin. Longer retention means better product fit, higher revenue per user, and stronger customer satisfaction.

**How is it calculated:** We add up the number of months each subscription stayed active and divide that by the total number of unique subscriptions.
